Quickening

I had a lot to say immediately after we shared the news that a baby was on the way, but after that, well, it was just a bunch of waiting around. Oh, and I was exhausted. Completely exhausted.

I've just started to feel genuinely pregnant in the past couple of weeks, largely (double entendre intended) due to an obvious belly and starting to feel Chickpea* moving around. I was thrilled to recognize honest to goodness fetal movement, but it was...odd. Not pleasantly offbeat - more squirmy and like something was tickling my insides. I did NOT like it initially, but Chickpea seems to have gotten the hang of things and is progressing on the "cute spectrum" towards sweet and more obvious kicks and bumps.

This is a special development, as I was able to share with Dave tonight. I've been shouting for him to come lay hand on belly for about a week now, but not luck. Honestly, if every time I moved, someone screamed, "DAAAAAAAVEEE! IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN!" I'd probably freeze up, too. We finally synchronized and Dave felt a couple of tiny kicks just below my belly button.

Here is what I look like these days (taken on our roof at 6:30am before leaving for work). I don't which has grown more, the boobs or the bump.

  1. Lindsay you look wonderful! I am so excited that you and Dave are going to be parents. I hope to be able to see you when you are back in Ohio this summer. I am making "Chickpea" a present.
    Love,
